Ties to the past
Ties to the Past
Originally created as a digital collage, Ties to the Past evolved into a layered exploration of identity, memory, and personal transformation.
The rope serves as both a physical and symbolic element—representing connection, restraint, and the parts of ourselves we eventually learn to release. Surrounded by nostalgic imagery, surreal details, and vibrant color, the figures exist in a space between holding on and letting go.
This piece reflects the process of shedding former versions of ourselves while honoring the experiences that shaped who we become. It invites viewers to consider their own attachments: what they carry, what they release, and what continues to define them.
