Barbershop

Barbershop explores the tension between masculinity, intimacy, and queer identity. Inspired by my own experiences feeling out of place in traditionally masculine spaces, this piece examines the discomfort of feeling visible while also acknowledging the attraction and vulnerability found within these environments.

Through symbols like the pink barber cape, a Pedro Infante film, and intimate moments between the figures, the painting reflects on the expectations of masculinity, cultural identity, and the complicated relationship between belonging and feeling like an outsider.
