Bloom / Bound is a visceral, layered collage that brings together the lush romance of classical floral still lifes with the raw, unapologetic power of queer erotic imagery. Built from fragmented cutouts and reconstructed in shifting grids, the piece disrupts both the viewer’s gaze and the illusion of a “complete” body. Instead, it offers a charged meditation on desire, fragmentation, and the tension between concealment and exposure.
The grayscale figure—masked, harnessed, and mid-gesture—emerges and disappears between explosions of crimson petals, decaying blooms, and insects quietly inhabiting the background. The flowers, rendered in rich Baroque style, act as both camouflage and confrontation: soft yet overwhelming, beautiful yet on the verge of rot. They amplify the sensuality of the body while also interrogating it, creating a push-pull between intimacy and spectacle.
Through its structured cuts and reassembled surfaces, Bloom / Bound plays with the idea of being seen, controlled, adorned, and obscured. The result is a piece that feels timeless and transgressive at once—inviting viewers into a world where classical beauty and queer fetish aesthetics coexist, collide, and ultimately bloom into something new.
