“and just like that it’s sunday all over again” is a mixed media work on canvas that merges painting, sculpted clay elements, and found photographic imagery into a layered, dimensional narrative. At its center, an ice cream truck becomes both subject and stage—an icon of neighborhood ritual—its serving window transformed into a miniature world that blurs the line between memory and imagination.
The composition unfolds as a dense collage of scenes and figures, weaving together moments of everyday life: children gathered in anticipation, families lingering in conversation, and fragments of cultural imagery that speak to shared histories and identities. Painted passages coexist with photographic cutouts and three-dimensional interventions, creating a tactile surface that mirrors the complexity of recollection itself—partial, overlapping, and alive.
Rooted in nostalgia, the piece reflects on the cyclical nature of time and communal experience, where Sundays become symbolic of pause, connection, and simple joy. The work explores how memory is collectively constructed—through ritual, environment, and cultural touchstones—and how these moments persist, resurfacing again and again. Through its hybrid material language and immersive detail, the piece invites viewers to step into a familiar yet deeply personal world, where joy is found in the ordinary and community is both remembered and reimagined.
